Zelda's still life paintings are a celebration of colour and of the joy to be found in essentially domestic subjects. Her interest lies in the use of simple forms and vibrant colours together with the use of an altered perspective, which distinguishes her work from the ordinary. Juxtaposed with the vibrant colours and the domestic subject matter, there is also a sense of distance and singularity in her paintings, conveying a contemporary sense of isolation
Zelda works in oils and has always been interested in the use of colour and how the selection of particular colour combinations can convey mood and emotion. Painting for her is an ongoing process of discovery , motivated by a desire to find the combination which unlocks the power of the artist’s vision.
