My art is influenced by travel, a response to colours, heat, light and shade, the bleached paint of weatherworn shutters, the graphic shapes of parasols and cafe awnings.
I've worked as an illustrator since graduating, originally using the medium of screen printing. I've spent the subsequent years working for clients worldwide across all disciplines from publishing and advertising to editorial and design.
I'm now exploring my own painting practice. My art is influenced by travel, a response to colours, heat, light and shade, the bleached paint of weatherworn shutters, the graphic shapes of parasols and cafe awnings. I want to give the viewer an impression of these places through abstraction- with a hint of reality. I mix acrylic paint with screen printed images and drawn line, building up layers upon layers of colour, texture, pattern and line. The result is a memory scape of sights, colours and light- a snapshot of a place
