Vase & Vessel Collection

My mixed media collages are created using a "fusion" of painted patterned papers and of various print making techniques.

This process plays an important part in my art practice. I surround myself with bright colours and prepare lots of different papers so that I can "playfully" work simultaneously on several pieces…

Brushstrokes, dribbles, blobs and expressive marks are applied in a free-flowing spontaneous motion without a finished artwork in mind. A mindful creative moment spent just "being one", with the material is a very liberating feeling.

Piles of papers are made, forming a library of colourful patterns to later be used.

Like a magic carpet, I spread them out on a big table. From this mountain of "paper chaos" I emerge myself into a journey of discovery, observing every piece.

They are beautiful as an entity itself, but the powerful effect occurs when the patterns are combined into new exciting but carefully balanced compositions.

Printmaking (block printing, intaglio, relief & embossing) is further added, onto the collage, contributing yet another dynamic and unique dimension in the final artwork.
