Curriculum Vitae

Alison Bell is a Scottish figurative and portrait sculptor. In Bell’s latest work she tries to capture memories of the freedom of childhood – the energy and spontaneity, the days of living and playing in your own imagination and the unfettered physical joy of it all. Her Wee Souls mark a departure from purely commissioned work and are inspired by a yearning for the time when we lived to the edge of our bodies, free of the anxieties and conventions that make us behave as adults, with only guardian angels and other imaginary friends to watch over us.

The work celebrates those moments when we scaled fortresses, stood on the ramparts as king of the castle or dared ourselves to leapfrog over the moon.

Bell was elected an Associate of The Royal British Society of Sculptors in 1998, and to Council as a trustee in 2001-2003.
